YMCA PERSONAL FITNESS PROGRAM

Work with a Personal Fitness Coach to map out a flexible program that works for you--FREE FOR MEMBERS!

Regular exercise can help protect you from heart disease and stroke, high blood pressure, non-insulin dependent diabetes, obesity, back pain and osteoporosis.  It also improves your mood and helps you to better manage stress.  To reap all these benefits and more, simply sign up for the YMCA Personal Fitness (YPF) Program, which is FREE with a YMCA Memberships.  Throughout the 12-week program, you'll work with a Personal Fitness coach to develop a plan based on your needs and goals.  You'll get feedback and support from your coach and all of us here at the Y. 

WHAT IS IT?

The YMCA Personal Fitness Program (YPF) is a structured 12-week program designed to help YMCA members who are new to exercise, returning after a lengthy absence, unable to establish an exercise routine, or coming back from an injury or illness.  You will meet with a personal fitness coach four times over a 12-week period.  Your coach will monitor your progress and provide feedback on a weekly basis.  Individual exercise sessions are done at your convenience and YMCA fitness staff are available in the Fitness Center to answer questions and help.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  1. You will set up an initial appointment at the Service Center.  You will be assigned a personal fitness coach and will meet with your coach four times over the course of the program.

  2. Your first appointment will be a time for you to get to know and develop a relationship with your coach, identify your goals, identify any barriers to reaching your fitness goals, discuss your present fitness levels and have an orientation to the Personal Fitness Center, a more private work-out environment.

  3. Your second appointment will be used to review the first four weeks of your program, discuss any difficulties that you encountered, discuss strategies for overcoming those difficulties, and to add more pieces of strength equipment to your program.

  4. The third appointment will be very similar to the second, including adding more pieces of strength equipment.

  5. The final or closing appointment is when you celebrate your graduation from the program.  You will review your entire program, answer questions, discuss how you would like to progress and plan for the future.

The program is FREE to all members. Stop by the member service desk or contact any  Wellness Staff at ext. 28 for more information or to schedule your first appointment.

Stay Motivated with guidance and encouragement from your coach and easily accessible fitness staff. Members of the YMCA fitness staff will maintain contact with you to keep you on track, provide encouragement, and answer any questions that may come up.
